Stash Lamps

These lamps started out as a way to teach compound angle cuts during a class I was teaching.

Compound cuts are often used when installing crown molding, and can be quite tricky. So turning this task into a project is a great way to understand and learn the cutting concepts.

One of the students wanted to attempt a sculptural form, and with much experimentation, we came up with some shapes that work well for lamps.

Each of these lamps has a small secret compartment in the base, accessible by lifting off the top box.

The upper portion fits snugly over the smaller compartment, hiding it and keeping its contents hidden.

Some clients use these for concealing weapons, or hiding valuables.

What do you need to conceal?
